Jonathan Dries

I am a PhD candidate in Economics at LUISS University, interested in the deep-rooted determinants of growth & development. My research lies at the intersection of political economy, cultural economics, and economic history, using spatial and historical data to answer contemporary questions about economic development. I am advised by Professors Luigi Pascali and Mounu Prem, and I am currently visiting Professor Valeria Rueda at the University of Nottingham.

Outside of my academic interest in how places develop, I am passionate about exploring them firsthand. For me, this means learning about the history, documenting the journey with photography, and engaging with local culture through its people and cuisine.
